New Mud Cutter Guards: Solving One of the PackWheel’s Biggest Reliability Challenges
If you’ve ever driven a PackWheel through real mud, you already know it can turn a good day into a miserable one. Mud doesn’t just stick — it collects. Add in wet leaves, sticks, and small rocks, and before long the tire becomes a rolling debris magnet.
As the buildup grows, it starts forcing mud into the chain area. Eventually the chain can derail, and in extreme cases the tire can get so jammed it won’t rotate at all. The original crossed-wire setup helped a little, but it was never a complete solution.
We’ve been working on something better — and it’s finally here.
Introducing the Mud Cutter Mud Guards
The new Mud Cutter guards replace the old crossed wires and virtually eliminate mud and debris from reaching the chain and tire interface. They create a physical barrier that stops sticks, leaves, and rocks before they can cause problems, dramatically improving reliability in the worst conditions.
These guards mount directly to the handlebar uprights and work on all Gen 3 and Gen 4 PackWheels. Once adjusted to sit about ¼ inch from the tire, they quietly do their job. You can slide them out of the way on dry days, but honestly, once they’re set, there’s rarely a reason to touch them again.
There going to be included Into the PRO Packages Soon
Because mud-related chain issues are one of the biggest reliability challenges we’ve seen over the years, the Mud Cutter is now available as an accessory and will soon be included in all PRO packages.
If you hunt or haul in muddy terrain, this upgrade is a game-changer — simple, durable, and a massive improvement to the PackWheel experience.
